Margarita Leahy
Dynamic, multimodal, bilingual and bicultural clinical psychotherapist with 22 years of living overseas who possesses experience in working with families, children, adolescents, young adults and adults, (individually and in groups), from culturally diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic levels on a wide range of addiction, mental, emotional, academic, acculturation, and personal issues. Strong assessment skills, critical thinking acumen and knowledge of addiction, academic, and mental health issues, along with Spanish language fluency, and experience as a preventionist allow me to make a significant contribution to client wellness. The areas that I specialize in include anxiety, depression, insomnia, family issues, self-esteem issues, learning differences - trained by CHADD a nationally recognized authority on ADHD and executive function deficits, addiction – specifically licensed in this area (substance use and process/behavioral addictions), work and career Issues, life transitions, grief and loss, anger management, immigration issue, acculturation, parenting - I am a Certified Parent Educator, and trained in play therapy by Gary Landreth, PhD. I use a Cognitive-Behavioral perspective and draw from a variety of methodologies and techniques to include EMDR trained, creative play, and Schema therapy depending on what will be most helpful for each individual.
